"It's okay, we'll figure it out." Josh rested his hand on Brett's shoulder.

"The three who walked out are regulars here. They play pool a couple nights a week. I don't know names, but they are quiet and keep to themselves. Have never caused me any problems." Bruce hit a couple more buttons and suddenly the sound of the printer working filled the office.

"Not knowing if we're looking at the driver or the passenger, the car might not lead us directly to the person, but we at least know they know each other. If we find the car, we can watch it and hopefully it will lead us to the other guy. If we get lucky, it's the driver and as soon as we find the car, we've found our attacker." Kurt rubbed the back of his neck.

"What will be done since they're human?" Brett asked.

"It will depend. Once it's proven, we'll need to find out the why. I'd need to involve Pack Authority on this since it is dealing with a human. We'd have to do what they suggest. I know in the past where wolves have been killed, they've given us the choice to handle it our own way as long as humans weren't alerted to the issue. It's something that we will all sit down and discuss when the time comes." Kurt reached for the paper from the printer. "Thank you for your help, Bruce. Remind me to send Nick over to update your security cameras. There's no reason you shouldn't have the best."

  "Thanks." Bruce smiled.

I loved that about Kurt. He didn't need to spend money on Bruce's cameras, but because Bruce was good to him, and he'd helped, Kurt would now pay to have the best system installed. It was one of the reasons the pack was so loyal to Kurt. He made sure everyone was taken care of in one way or another.

"Okay, let's call it a night. I'll contact Stephen first thing in the morning. If you two want to come in later and we'll follow-up, that would be best. There's nothing more we can do until we trace the owner of that car." Kurt looked over at Brett and me.

"Thanks, Kurt. I appreciate everything." Brett smiled.

I nodded. "You'll call if you hear anything before we get to the pack house?"

  "I will," Kurt promised.

"We shouldn't be too late. We need to talk to Cohen too when he gets time." I ran my hand down Brett's back.

"He's working tomorrow at the hospital, but I'm sure he'd make time when he gets off." Kurt gave me a worried glance.

"It's nothing pressing. No reason for him to come out just for us. I'll call and set up a time when he's free." I didn't want Kurt worrying about anything. At least I hoped it was nothing. I didn't like that Brett was so tired, but it didn't seem like it was anything physically wrong.

Kurt nodded as he slid his arm around Josh's waist. "Then we'll see you both tomorrow. Have a good night, Bruce. Thanks again for the drinks and the help."

We left the office and made our way out to our cars in silence. There really wasn't anything more to say. We'd come close to figuring out who was attacking wolves, but not close enough. It was frustrating knowing that at any time another attack could happen.

As we got into the car to head home, I reached over and gripped Brett's shoulder. "We will get them."

"I know we will." He blew out a long breath. "It's what happens after. Killing them won't change anything. It won't bring my sight back, it won't bring Bridger back. I guess I'm just angry. I want to know why anyone would do this. Until we have the answers, then I won't be able to relax." Brett leaned his head back on the seat.

I left him alone with his own thoughts. I couldn't say anything to help him feel better. I just wanted this over. I wanted my mate happy. Focusing on the road, I pulled out and headed home, glad that at least we were together. If nothing else came from all this, I'd found my mate and that was the most important thing of all.

  CHAPTER ELEVEN

  BRETT

I moaned softly, still half-asleep, but the feel of soft lips surrounding my cock was a welcome surprise. "I could get used to waking up this way." I reached down, finding the back of his head, and combing my fingers through Bayne's hair.

Bayne responded by taking me deeper, swallowing around me.

I imagined what he looked like with my cock in his mouth. I wondered if he was staring up at me, watching me respond to the pleasure he was bringing me. I usually didn't like slow, teasing blow jobs, but there was something about Bayne that made me forget everything I used to like and crave whatever he was willing to give me.

His tongue stroked over my shaft as his hand cupped my balls.

"Fuck, I wish I could watch you." I pressed my head back against the pillow, lifting my hips, slightly forcing him to take me deeper. When he gagged around me, my cock pulsed, growing even harder at the sound. "That's it. Take me deep." I steadily moved my hips, fucking his mouth.

Bayne's mouth moved over me expertly, hitting every spot that did it for me. It was as if he knew somehow just what I liked. He welcomed my gentle thrusts, opening his throat for me the best he could, and not pulling away when I'd go too deep and choke him. The sounds turned me on more than anything. Maybe it was because I had always been able to see that I'd never noticed the sounds much, but listening to his wet mouth, his gasps for air, his gag, it was more of a turn on than anything I'd ever done before.

In no time at all my balls were pulling tight and my stomach clenching as I fought to hold back the explosion that was building inside me. "Fuck, I love that mouth." I struggled to breathe, fighting for control. Holy shit my mate was amazing. "Bayne, be ready. I'm gonna come hard and I want you to swallow all of me." I gave one more hard thrust, burying myself in his throat and holding his head there as I let go, my cock pulsing as I shot cum deep into him.

He gagged around me, a mix of choking and swallowing. It had me gripping the sheets with my free hand, the other still firmly against the back of his head.

When I finally did release him, he came free with a gasp, sucking in air. Fuck what I would have given to have seen that. I collapsed back, nearly unable to move from the pleasure I'd received.

Bayne moved up beside me, draping his arm over my chest as he also recovered. Through our link, his own arousal grew, but I needed a minute before I could take care of him. I was spent, unable to do more than think for several minutes.

When I could finally move, I rolled to my side, reaching down to take Bayne's still hard cock into my fist. "How do you want to get off, love? Do you want me to suck you? Or maybe you'd like to fuck me?" I was willing to give him whatever he wanted.

Bayne laughed. "While both of those sound great, and I will probably take advantage of both offers at some point, right now, I want to come all over your face."

I was shocked and was sure Bayne knew it from our link. It wasn't a bad shock. The thought of having him spray his cum all over me turned me on. It was like he was claiming me. Marking me with his scent. I wanted it more than anything.

"Then climb over me and give me exactly that." I leaned in and kissed him for a minute before rolling onto my back again. "Do you want me to help you get off?"

Bayne lifted one leg over me, so he was straddling my chest. His arousal smelled great and I arched forward seeking his cock with my lips.

Bayne tapped the head of his penis against my mouth and let me suck on the tip for a moment before he pulled back. "Play with my balls while I jack off."

I loved the desperation in his voice. Moving my hand to his balls, I rolled them over my finger as Bayne took his cock from my lips and started to stroke himself. The bed moved with his action and I imagined what he looked like over me. I focused on the link we shared, finding I could feel his pleasure, feel his fist almost moving over his cock as if it was my own. I was too spent to harden again so soon, but my cock gave a valiant try as Bayne's body pressed against mine.

The feel of his body rocking as he worked his cock, along with the sound of his hand moving over it made an intense visual image in my mind. My breath caught as I imagined the head peeking through his fist, the tip glistening with precum.

My fingers explored his balls, learning them in a way I had never taken the
time to do when I had my sight. Everything was so new, so alive, and the fact I could feel his pleasure through our link only made everything more intense. "I can feel you. Feel what you're feeling." I licked at my lips.

"I'm close. Open your mouth." Bayne's voice trembled as he spoke.

I did what he asked, opening my mouth wide, sticking out my tongue as I waited for what he was going to give me. I couldn't wait to taste him, feel his release against my lips, my face. God, what I would give to see his face as he shot his load on me.

Bayne cried out, his hand still working his cock, the noise slowing slightly a second before streams of wetness hit my face. I didn't jerk away, though it shocked me. I stayed still except for my tongue which licked at the creamy release that now covered my lips. My mate tasted amazing. I leaned forward once I didn't feel anymore hit me. "Give me your cock."

The head pressed to my lips and I leaned up for it, taking several inches in, cleaning him off as I swirled my tongue over him, trying to get every drop I could find.

"Holy shit, that was amazing." Bayne finally pulled from me, falling to my side, still breathing heavy.

"It was. I love tasting you." I used my finger to wipe the cum from my cheeks and bring it to my mouth. "I could get used to waking up like this."

"Me too." Bayne sighed happily. "Now I don't want to move."

"Unfortunately, we have to." I rolled to my side, pulling Bayne beside me.

"You feeling okay today?" He kissed my chin.

"Yeah, better. I'm still not as energetic as I was before the attack. I don't know how to explain it. I just don't have energy. I used to feel like I could take off and run for hours, now the thought alone makes me tired." I pressed my forehead against Bayne's shoulder. "Physically, I feel fine. I don't hurt. I'm just tired. Nothing we've done the last few days should have worn me out."

"I don't know about that." Bayne laughed. "I'm feeling worn out now."

  "Sex doesn't count." I grinned.

"Sex always counts." Bayne kissed my lips before sitting up. "Sorry, but we need to motivate. It's almost eleven. We should have been at the pack house by now. It's just so hard to climb out of bed when you're with me."

"I'm not complaining, and I'm sure Kurt understands. It's a good thing he's mated. He gets how it is. Only someone who has been through it would understand." I sat up and slid my legs over the edge of the bed. "I need a quick shower. Will you grab me something to wear again?" If I didn't get my sight back, we'd have to come up with a way for me to know what color shirts were or make sure everything I had matched. I didn't have much with me. Only what I'd brought for my short visit with Bridger, but it was enough to get me through until I could go in and buy more.

"Sure. You okay on your own?" Bayne asked.

"Yeah, I think I've got it. The sooner I get used to doing things, the easier it will be." I stood, moving slowly toward where I thought the bathroom door was. I missed it by a few inches, but running my hands over the wall, I found it easily.

I showered and dressed as Bayne made coffee. It seemed we were falling into domestic habits. I smiled, looking forward to a lifetime of waking up beside him, especially if we woke up every morning like we had today.

Proud of myself that I'd managed to walk from the bedroom and into the kitchen without hitting a wall, I sat down at the table. "That coffee smells amazing."

"Not as amazing as you do." Bayne bent and kissed me before straightening. "Kurt called while you showered. He said that they tracked the car. It belongs to the mother of the girl that Bridger was dating."

"Mary?" I was shocked. "But I'm sure the scent belonged to a male."

"How much do you know about Mary?" Bayne now sounded like he was sitting across from me.

"Nothing much. I met her for a few hours, but she didn't say much that would matter. Bridger talked a bit about her, but it was mostly about how submissive she was. I got the feeling she was in love with Bridger. She was loyal."

"Could Bridger have pissed her off?"

"No way. They were hot and heavy Friday when I saw her with him. Bridger didn't see or talk to her again until Saturday morning before we went on our run. He said we were going fishing for the day and would meet with her at the bar later that night. Bridger didn't say anything on the call that would upset her. He even asked if I minded if he brought her back home with us. I was staying in the guest room, so it wasn't a big deal if he wanted to. She wouldn't have been in my way."

"I wonder if she has brothers?"

  I sat up straighter.

"What?" Bayne asked. "I felt that wave of shock through our link."

"That's what the smell was. It was Mary, but fainter, mixed with something else. Just like twins. They share a unique scent, but still different enough that you notice it. I'll bet anything that Mary has a twin brother." I gripped my coffee cup tightly. "We have to let Kurt know."

"I'll call him now. Finish your coffee while I shower. We can leave as soon as I'm done." Bayne paused to kiss my cheek before he left the room.

How could I have not realized it before? I'd been around twins enough to know the scent difference. I had a set of twins that I taught. I ran my fingers through my hair, frustrated that I hadn't put the pieces together before this. If I had, the other two wolves might not have been attacked.

What we needed to figure out now was why would Mary's twin want to hurt us? Did he know what we were or was it just coincidence that he attacked Bridger? Had he been out hunting wolves and didn't know? I didn't believe that. The attack had been too violent for it not to be something personal.

That meant that her twin knew about shifters. That was dangerous. Rumors went around all the time. Most of them were easily covered up by folklore, but this was more than someone saying they'd seen a shifter. It was easy to make people think they were seeing things or it was a play of shadows, but this felt like more. If he was willing to kill, he was willing to expose what we were.

My stomach tightened, the coffee suddenly tasting sour as I stood and slowly walked to the sink and dumped the cup out. I set the cup down and braced my hands on the edge of the counter trying to figure everything out.

"I don't like being in the middle of my shower and feeling you upset." Bayne was suddenly behind me, wrapping his arms around my body as he kissed the back of my neck.

I leaned into his embrace. "I just wish I'd have realized what that scent was sooner. I should have known."

"No, you shouldn't have. You've had so much to deal with. You couldn't expect to have thought about that. None of us thought about it."

"But I knew the scent. I should have connected it to Mary."

"We know now. You can't blame yourself. Hell, you only met her once. It's amazing you remembered the scent at all. Not all wolves would have. Let's go see Kurt and find out what we are going to do. We'll get through this together. We'll figure it out together." He turned me in his arms so I was facing him. "We're going to find this person and make them pay. I promise you."

I nodded, my head falling forward to his shoulder. "I want to know why."

"Then let's go find out. Kurt will have a plan." He kissed my cheek. "You ready to go?"

"Yeah." I pulled back and tried to smile. "Thanks for keeping me calm. I don't know if I could do this without you, without our link."

Bayne kissed me softly, his hands cupping my cheeks. "You could get through anything on your own, but I'm glad you don't have to. I'll always be here to take what I can off your shoulders so you don't need to carry the whole burden."

  "I love you."

"I love you too. Now let's get out of here. We have some justice to serve." Bayne took my hand and led me out to the car.

In the silence of the car, I thought about everything that had happened. Somehow, because of something tied to Bridger, four wolves had been attacked. Thankfully, the other two not as badly as we were. I couldn't imagine Bridger letting our secret out. There was no way he would put us at risk. His family, his pack, his friends meant to
o much to him. I'd seen him in the height of sexual arousal and not once had he lost control. I refused to believe that he'd lost control with Mary. No matter how far we were pushed, we'd learned to always be in control of our wolves.

I sighed, wishing I had the answers and scared we would never find them.

"We'll make him pay for what he did." Bayne reached over, covering my hand with his.

"I know. I just hope he gives us the answers we need. I need know why. What happened to make him do this? What bothers me most is that I won't be able to go after him. I'm going to have to sit back and let you or the others take him." I wanted to be the one to grab hold of him and watch the fear in his eyes as he realized we knew what he'd done. Sadly, I wouldn't be able to see anything. But I would enjoy the smell of his fear.

"Let's talk to Kurt and see what he has planned. This is going to be dangerous enough since we are dealing with a human and we don't know if he's told anyone else about us. We have to remember that there were two humans who attacked you. We don't know who the second one was yet. It wasn't one of the scents from the bar."

I nodded. "We could have this all wrong. It could be the other person who has an issue with us and told Mary's twin. This could have nothing to do with Mary at all."

"We just can't know." Bayne sent a wave of love through our link. "We'll find the answers."

The car came to a stop and shut off. "Let's go find out what they know."

I stepped out of the car and waited for Bayne to come to me. It was frustrating that I couldn't even walk from the parking lot into the building alone. I probably could have found my way following the scents and sounds, but I would have stumbled into other cars and tripped over the steps, making a fool out of myself.

Bayne led me inside and through the large main room into the kitchen. I smelled beef and some strange spice I couldn't place. I had to wonder if the women here ever stopped cooking. It seemed as if there was always someone here. I was still amazed at how well Kurt's pack was put together.
